Sunderland Association Football Club and hummel have unveiled the Sunderland 26/27 Third kit for the 2026-27 Premier League season and the club’s return to European football after 53 years.
Sunderland Kit Design & Inspiration
With the design referencing the city’s centuries-old glassmaking heritage, the new Sunderland jersey uses a dark blue base covered by a repeating tonal graphic inspired by stained glass. Incorporated into the pattern is the football taken from Sunderland’s historic ship crest, arranged through circular forms across the front, sleeves and back of the jersey.
Different shades of blue are used throughout the graphic, with a plain ribbed crew-neck collar and matching blue mesh panels positioned along the sides. Copper provides the contrasting colour across the shirt, including the hummel logo and a specially adapted Sunderland AFC crest on the chest. Matching copper hummel chevrons are positioned across the shoulders.
The glassmaking reference continues at the back of the new shirt, where the words “Glass Making Since The 7th Century” appear in copper beneath the rear collar. An official 2026-27 authentic apparel label is positioned near the lower hem.
