Sunderland Association Football Club and hummel have unveiled the Sunderland 26/27 Home kit, created to commemorate the club’s 1937 FA Cup triumph.
Sunderland Kit Design & Inspiration
The new Sunderland jersey retains the club’s traditional red and white vertical stripes, with a fold-down collar and coordinated red detailing across the shoulders and sleeves. Hummel branding appears on the right side of the chest, opposite the Sunderland crest.
A tonal jacquard pattern runs throughout the jersey, using a repeated letter “S” formed from the handles of the FA Cup. Red Hummel chevrons are positioned across the shoulders, adding further manufacturer detailing to the striped design.
The current Sunderland AFC crest is presented within a shield on the chest. A version of the original city crest worn on the 1937 shirt is placed beneath the rear collar, linking the new release with the club’s first major domestic cup success.
Inside the neckline, the starting eleven from Sunderland’s 3-1 victory over Preston North End in the 1937 FA Cup Final are listed. Raich Carter, Bobby Gurney and Eddie Burbanks scored the second-half goals at Wembley, securing the trophy in front of 93,495 spectators.
Full Sunderland Home Kit details
Black shorts are paired with the new Sunderland football shirt, continuing the darker detailing used across the club crest and manufacturer branding. Black socks with a wide red band around the upper cuff complete the full Sunderland Home kit, which will be worn during the 2026–27 Premier League season and the club’s return to European football after 53 years.
