Norway had beaten Ireland in Oslo last time out and held on here for a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
Thoresen was the skipper and played the full match. Despite the impressive results against the Irish, Norway went on to finish bottom of the table. Thoresen spent almost all of his club career in Holland with Twente and PSV and represented his country 50 times in total scoring 9 goals.
