According to the Liberal minister the number 18 stands for "Adolf Hitler" and the number 88 for "Heil Hitler." A is the 1st letter of the alphabet, H the 8th.

The numbers 37 (Che Guevara) or 13 (Mao) are not forbidden. Neither are the popular T-shirts with Che Guevara’s portrait.

One reader in a Brussels paper wondered whether citizens living in houses with the numbers 18 and 88 will be blacklisted as Nazis by the authorities.

All eight signatures are included on the rear of the menu card, which was acquired by the seller's father, who was the British Ambassador to Belgrade.

The Wednesday before last I went to an auction of football memorabilia at Ludlow racecourse. I went mainly because I had heard on the radio that one of the lots was to be a menu signed by the Busby Babes. Not just any menu, either, but one from a dinner at the Majestic Hotel in Belgrade following the 3-3 draw with Red Star Belgrade on 5 January 1958, on the very eve of the Munich air crash.

This menu was almost certainly the last thing signed by Duncan Edwards, Roger Byrne, Tommy Taylor, Eddie Colman, David Pegg, Liam Whelan, Mark Jones and Geoff Bent during a convivial evening in which it must have seemed as if the world was theirs for the taking. Despite having led 3-0 at half-time and been forced to settle for a draw, they had just reached the semi-final of the European Cup.

The focal point of the Museum is the amazing Champions Collection of medals, caps, jerseys and memorabilia won by three of the Hammers greatest stars Bobby Moore, Sir Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters, who helped England lift the World Cup in 1966. Included, of course, are the three World Cup winners medals. After more than seven years of planning, structuring and huge financial outlay towards the purchase of some of the most sought after items of footballing memorabilia, the West Ham United Museum opened its doors for the first time on Saturday, August 24, 2002.

Establishing a West Ham United Museum had been the dream of Chairman Terence Brown and his fellow Director, Charles Warner, since the Club's Centenary Year of 1995. It was during this time the Club made an appeal for donations to help make that dream a reality.
